In 2017, the City of Inglewood unanimously approved an exclusive negotiating agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers that could lead to the construction of a new LA Clippers Arena in Inglewood. The proposed arena would be constructed along Century Boulevard, near the soon-to-be-completed LA Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park (which will serve as the future home of the NFL's LA Rams and LA Chargers). The proposed arena would be constructed on a 20-acre parcel of land, making it one of the largest sports arenas in Los Angeles area. In addition to an 18,000-seat arena, the venue would house the Clippers’ team offices, corporate headquarters, practice facilities, a sports medicine clinic, a team store, and a public plaza with dining options.
The Robert Group has developed a grass-roots strategy to launch a public awareness campaign that garners support for the construction of the new LA Clippers Arena, which is expected to bring thousands of long-term jobs and a host of new economic activity to Inglewood. This strategy involves holding targeted and intimate focus groups in order to establish a foundation for effective public engagement. Attended by Inglewood residents, taste-makers and community leaders, these focus groups have allowed the project team to effectively communicate the economic benefits of the project while simultaneously gathering valuable insight and feedback from the public. TRG continues to to support the Clippers team in building a positive relationship with the community it will soon call home.
