This innovative urban planning project examined alternatives to place a “cap” over a half-mile of one of the most congested freeways running through Downtown Los Angeles – the U.S. 101. This “cap” would provide a much-needed open space resource in the heart of Downtown, creating not only a park, but a pedestrian linkage to retail, residential, and commercial space near Los Angeles Union Station, El Pueblo, Little Tokyo, Civic Center, and Bunker Hill. TRG supported this novel pursuit by leading an industry-specific digital media campaign, which focused on bloggers, social networks, and the creation of an organic “buzz” to complement traditional layers of outreach.
