Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station Improvements

The Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station Improvement Project is intended to provide important upgrades to this busy, 25-year-old station where the Metro Blue and Green Lines meet. It is located at the intersection of Interstate 105 Freeway (I-105) and South Wilmington Avenue in Willowbrook and is generally bounded by Imperial Highway to the north, South Wilmington Avenue to the west, South Willowbrook Avenue to the east, and extends south to include approximately 1.5 acres of the Kenneth Hahn Plaza Shopping Center. In addition to the two rail lines, the Station is served by six Metro bus lines as well as several municipal bus lines and community shuttles. As a result, the goals for this Project are to address safety and security concerns, enhance connections to the surrounding community, expand Station capacity and improve multi-modal connections.

The Robert Group conducted a series of community open houses to provide updates on the station design. TRG worked to regularly update the project website with information on the design status, upcoming community meetings, and opportunities for community input on the project and continues to lead community outreach activities.

Entering the final design phase, the project will begin construction in early 2018 with expected completion by 2021. The project team is scheduled to go to the Metro Board of Directors this summer for full funding approval.
